Fans of Picoult will love this book. Readers who haven't previously been fans should still give this a go; the realness of the topic is sure to be an eye-opener in light of today's world.
This is ultimately a story of revenge. While her family, and the town's folk, continue to be deceived by Chamberlin's deception, Ann waits for the right time to stand up against the betrayal, banishment and even physical violence she has endured for over ten years.
This book was so full of suspense that I was at the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it. There were so many twists and turns, many of which I certainly didn't see coming. However, the biggest twist was that the story I was expecting to be told didn't necessarily occur at all.
