Book Review: The Lighthouse Witches by C.J. Cooke

Spooky season is upon us and you can’t have Halloween without a witch story, right? Right!

Review

My my, what a spooky story. The minute you know you are travelling to the wilderness of Scotland you know you are into something good. The creepy lighthouse, the horrific rumours, and the shifty community all some together to create a wonderful story. And that’s before the sisters disappear and one comes back – and hasn’t aged in years. I was just dying to find out what happens next and unravel the mystery.

I didn’t find The Lighthouse Witches scary. In my opinion witches aren’t scary because they are just misunderstood women, made to feel evil because they are somewhat different. And that’s another theme to this book, misunderstanding. Liv and Sapphire both misunderstand one another. The locals misunderstand all of what is going on. Liv misunderstands the locals concern, and so on. Plus, it shows that we all have our secrets to hide, mostly to protect the ones we love the most.

The Lighthouse Witches is the best witch-themed book I’ve read in a while. If you want to check it out, you can pick up a copy of the book here.
