Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Review

I have been using Clinique’s Repairwear Laser Focus foundation on the verge of 7 years now and never strayed to any other brand during that time. I always used shade number 3 and didn’t think twice about any other colour. Imagine my surprise when I bought the exact same foundation a couple of weeks ago only to find that things had changed. Sheer horror is what I felt!

Those of you familiar with Repairwear Laser Focus will have seen the negative reviews online about the formula and yes, they some points made are correct. Firstly, it has no pump which is always a downer as much of the liquid ends up wasted. Luckily I had a pump from an old bottle so this was not a problem for me.

Secondly, the colours have changed. Number 3 was always a really pale shade but it is not a couple of degrees darker. Upon applying it on my face, I immediately thought I looked orange – never a good look. I had no time or foundation to change before work so went feeling like an Oompa Lumpa. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the compliments I got with the new colour as it apparently made me look much healthier. One person said (my sister), I didn’t look dead anymore. Great!

I was all intent in returning the foundation but went home deciding I would give it one more day. I decided to keep it though when I looked in the mirror and say how well it lasted on my face. Usually the make up would be gone from my nose and chin by now but it was still 75% there (this was after an entire day of no touch ups). I put this down to the more oily texture the liquid now has. Its longevity sold me and after some hours of mixed emotion, I was in love with Repairwear Laser Focus again.

Nevertheless, this is my opinion and it may not be suitable for the beautiful faces of others. There are two main things to keep in mind. Yes, the shades have changed so do not buy your normal one blindly. The friendly staff are sure to help you find a new, more suitable shade if needs be. Also, if you have more oily skin, or even normal skin, this foundation may not be for you anymore. As a person with very dry skin, the more oily a foundation is the better as it does not flake off on me. It also reduces my need for setting power.

All in all, I am happy with Repairwear Laser Focus and its new formula. Perhaps I will have to buy a lighter shade when the winter months set in, but for now I am satisfied. What are your experiences with Clinique foundations? I am always looking to further explore the brand so tips and suggestions are always welcome!
