J & K Together: Jodi Picoult and Kylie Minogue

Happy Monday everybody! I hope that wherever you are, it is nicer than the awful grey clouds I am looking at this morning. Anyway, today’s post is a combination of ‘J’ and ‘K’, and I thought I would dedicate it to two of my favorite ladies at the moment – Jodi Picoult and Kylie Minogue.

Jodi Picoult is my favourite author. Ever. The first book I read by her (sorry but I can’t remember exactly which one) felt like a gift from the great book Gods. I bought it, and many of her other books, in a local newsagent because they were reduced to €5 and the plotlines looked relatively decent. What a bland first thought in comparison to how I feel about her work now.

For anybody who is not familiar with the work of Picoult, she usually writes about ethical issues and moral dilemmas from abusive relationships, to custody battles to whether or not a person’s life support machine should be turned off. Real true to life and well-researched stuff which allow you to get really sucked into her books. My favorite is ‘The Pact’ which is basically about a suicide pact between two teenagers. A wonderful read if not a tad depressing.

I never really was that into Kylie Minogue. I found her music uplifting and enjoyable, but I wasn’t a huge fan. That changed considerably after watching a few episodes of ‘The Voice’. Now I cannot stop listening to her music everyday in work, and I was even considering going to her concert until I saw that the cheapest ticket was €70. Sorry Kylie, I just haven’t got the money for that. It was certainly her personality that drew me in more. She is really friendly, cheerful, funny and a bit flirty. And of course her wardrobe is to die for. Obviously I thought she was gorgeous before, but it goes to show that it is personality which really makes a person beautiful.
