So, lately there has been a bit of a change in my spending preferences, and I have found myself leaning more towards beauty products rather than clothes and shoes. I think the main reason for this is my skin. I have really red, sensitive skin and there are many products which I cannot use as they irritate me. Thanks to my lovely friend though, I have come into some Clinique products which are doing the world of good for me. I have always used their cosmetics but the skin care range is a new venture and I am hooked! I have also acquired some new make-up bits which are also great as I have decided to try to make more of an effort with myself. Also, my growing want has gone beyond my face and with the impending summer, I need to get my entire body in top shape.
However, as excited as I am about the prospect of buying these new products, I really know nothing about myself as a ‘beauty guru’; I have no idea what products I like and what works best for me. This is why I have decided to do the “would you prefer….” beauty tag so not only can you learn more about me, I may discover a few new things about myself. Enjoy!
1.) Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lip glosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?
The palettes and eyeshadows most definitely. I used to be really into eyeshadows but it is a rare occasion that I use them now, whereas I absolutely need mascara to look remotely alert every day.
2.) Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?
I could never chop off all my hair. I have one of those chubby, shapeless faces that could never pull it off.
3.) Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?
I will say pink cheek because I have never used coral. See, only three questions in and I am already adding to my beauty to-do list.
4.) If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
I would be economical about this and split the money evenly but as I have to choose for the sake of this tag, I would choose clothes. Despite what I said above, clothes will always be my kryptonite.
5.) Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?
I will say lipstick as eyeliner. I could carve it done to a point to make a thin line and avoid looking like a twat.
6.) Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
I have never been to a Sephora. Sigh. I will pick it though because as far as I know they sell a variety of brands rather than limiting myself to MAC.
7.) Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?
I would opt to stick for the classic red lipstick – can’t go wrong there!
8.) Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
I am a crafty old bugger and would wear enough summer clothes at the one time during winter so as to fend off the cold. Crisis averted. If I was still living in Ireland though it would definitely be the winter clothes I am wearing. No chance of a summer there!
9.) Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?
I will go for bright. I think those type of colours suit me more.
10.) Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?
Again, due to my desperate need to wear mascara all the time, the lips will have to suffer.
11.) Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?
A messy bun seems to be all the rage right now and I like to keep up with the cool kids. Plus, referring back to question two, I just don’t have the head for hairstyles which accentuates my chubby face.
12.) Would you rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lip gloss?
I will give up the lip gloss. On a technicality I could use Vaseline which is not a gloss but has the same effect. Score one for Joy.
13.) Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?
I’d paint those bad boys on every day, no doubt about that!
14.) Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?
Nail polish. Mine is not a face which should be unleashed without the concealment of at least a smidgen of make up.
