Motivational Matters

A lot has changed in my life these past few months. Besides up and moving to a new country, I have dealt with career decisions, leaving behind friends and family, the struggle to forge new friendships, and generally trying to find myself as a person. While I am enjoying my current journey, there are times it can be hard and much motivation is needed. When I was younger I used to collect quotes in a book to cheer myself up. I still enjoy this pastime and like to read motivational quotes online when I feel glum. Here are some of my favourite’s hope you find them motivational too!

Always continue the climb. It is possible for you to do whatever you choose, if you first get to know who you are and are willing to work with a power that is greater than ourselves to do it. Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy. Norman Vincent Peale

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, “I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.” Eleanor Roosevelt

“No one is in control of your happiness but you; therefore, you have the power to change anything about yourself or your life that you want to change.” Barbara DeAngelis

“It is good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it’s good too, to check up once in a while and make sure you haven’t lost the things money can’t buy.” George Lorimer

“Every second that you live you are never going to get back. You are never going to get to change what you said, didn’t say, did, or didn’t do. Live how you want to live. Act how you want to be remembered, because you never know how long or short you are going to be here.” Emily Doberstein

“Laugh at yourself and at life. Not in the spirit of derision or whining self-pity, but as a remedy, a miracle drug, that will ease your pain, cure your depression, and help you to put in perspective that seemingly terrible defeat and worry with laughter at your predicaments, thus freeing your mind to think clearly toward the solution that is certain to come. Never take yourself too seriously.” Og Mandino

“Always be a first rate version of yourself, instead of a second rate version of somebody else.” Judy Garland

“If you don’t like my words, don’t listen. If you don’t like my appearance, don’t look. If you don’t like my actions, turn your head; It’s as simple as that.” Anonymous

“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” Dr. Seuss

“Whether you spend your days in sorrow or in joy, time will still continue to tick away. The longer you take to move on, the less time you’ll have to spend being happy.” Kevin Ngo
